Protest at P&O terminal Cairn Ryan

WAG held another day of protest at P&O terminal Cairn Ryan on Sunday 10 October 2004. A number of supporters joined in their protest at the continuing transportation of puppies on board P&O Irish Ferries. During the protest the Secretary, Ken McKie, handed over their petition with 1617 signatures, which came from the length and breadth of the UK.

On behalf of WAG Ken McKie said, These signatures come from customers and potential customers of P&O Irish Ferries and we hope that they recognise this. We now have a good rapport with the staff at the terminal and they have come to understand our protests are peaceful. We also heard today that a ferry company in Ipswich has ended the transportation of live animals, sheep, from Europe due to the level of protest against it so it is not impossible for us to achieve this end.

WAG would like to thank their supporters for both their help in the petition and for turning out to our protests. It seems that we are always producing petitions but they work and no doubt we will have to consider such an action in connection with Dalrymple.
