I stupidly bought a puppy on sunday, thought that everything looked okish, was a bit surprised by the amount of flies that were in with the puppies, but thought ok, there were 4 litters of different pups in there, chose the pup i eventually bought and said to the male owner, why is his tummy so big and he told me that it was cause he'd just eaten, which to me was plausible. The owner gave me some food, (which when i got home i realised was adult dog food)i paid and got out of there, the pup stunk really, really badly and had dried faeces over him.

I took him to vet asap, to be told that he was severly underweight, riddled with worms and a colitis, due to his diet/worms. The "INJECTION" he was supposed to have by their vet was not the full 1st part of his innoculation, so now have to start all over again. He is now on anti-biotics to try and relive his problems. When i rung the puppy farmer he was so off hand and couldnt care less. Steer clear, ive learnt the hard way!!!!!

We have a real problem developing. A "puppy superstore" opened in Bramley (Leeds, West Yorkshire) last year. It is the sister branch to it's Manchester counterpart, promted on it's website by Colleen McGloughlin.

They sell many different breeds of dog, supposedly healthy and vaccinated. Despite the fact that there is no reasonable way of knowing who the parent dogs, or breeders are, these puppies are just as expensive (if not more so) than well-bred dogs from caring breeders.

I work for a Leeds Veterinary charity and I can confirm that we have been presented with several pups from the Bramley store with bloody diarrhoea. Upon questioning, it appeared that the "six month guarantee" provided does not cover illness, only "congenital defects." The "vaccination" provided is a single jab offering around two weeks protection against parvovirus only. There is no protection against any other common diseases such as Leptospirosis, Hepatitis or Parainfluenza. The worry s people who buy these puppies will assume they are fully vaccinated.

Several members of the Dogs Trust have been into the store posing as customers. They asked various questions to members of staff. One question was "what sort of dog will fit in this handbag?" Instead of the correct response, e.g. "You shouldn't put a dog in a handbag" the woman was advised on a number of tiny breeds. The second person said they wanted an aggressive dog. Again, instead of being told that dogs should not be aggressive, the member of staff proceded to list breeds that often become aggressive in the wrong hands. The last woman said she was buying a puppy for her 5 year old son, but that she worked full time and would it be ok to leave a puppy alone in a flat for several hours? The member of staff said it would be fine.

I have heard that many of the pups are imported from Ireland, where puppy farming is not regulated at all. The owner claims all the puppies are bred in Britain from experienced breeders, but he will not give any further information. There is now a Facebook group boycotting this place and plans to hold a protest in the near future.

I can't understand how they are allowed to carry out a business like this. The main concern is that the Bramley Superstore has been deliberately located in such a deprived area because the majority of the local population will not have the mental capacity to question where these dogs come from, and will quite happily "buy on impulse." Let's keep pushing for the law to change regarding dog breeding practices, because the popularity of this superstore is growing.

Went to buy a pup (westie)earlier this month as my son's Xmas pressie.

When we got there the gates were locked and we had to ring to be let in. He bought out two dogs who he claimed were the parents, but the female did not look like she had just had pups. The three bitch pups he bought out were not of the same litter, they were all at varying stages of development and age. Also their fur was matted and very very dirty as if they had been sleeping in mud.

Also at the same time a rotweiller came over to us and it was very obvious it was in pain as it could hardly walk and when it sat down next to me it was shaking. I had one of the pups shoved into my arms and when I gave it back my clothes stank. He also tried to charge us more than we had agreed on the phone.

Obviously we did not go ahead with the purchase. I told him he was disgusting and that he was not a 'breeder' but a puppy farm and he went very quiet. I also told him I was going to report him to the RSPCA and he told me he did not care and threatened to set the other dogs (Alsatians) onto me. When we left the property we saw a sign outside which we did not see as we went in advertising other breeeds of dogs which were available for sale now.

This puppy farm is based in Houghton Regis in Bedfordshire which is just outside Dunstable. They advertise in our local paper in Milton Keynes as pupsonline.co.uk

I bought a bishon frise from ivy leave kennels last december she was 6 weeks. Dave Knoxs dropped her off at my house which was strange as he didnt want me to go to the kennels, he advised me that if I changed the pups diet she would poo blood, I asked what he fed her on and kept her on the same food. Before I even fed the pup she had blood in her poo and after a couple of days I noticed she had a bad cough.

I rang the breeder but he just kept telling me she was fine when she left the kennels so I must of caused the cough. A few days later I was speeking to some one in the street that had two bishon frise's and his sister had bought one from ivy leaf kennels that had developed black spots on its back and had the same health problems as mine did.

Hello everyone, is Ivy Leaf Kennels 1 Barrons Way, Burnhope, County Durham, DH7 0DJ, a puppy farm. I ask as it has a new varied selection of breeds within a fortnight of my visit. My visit was a dreadful experience, I have been looking for a Shih Tzu puppy for a while, so when I saw some puppies advertised within a few miles of my home I telephoned and they said I could call around.

I was given a postcode and no address, neighbours pointed me in the direction of Ivy Leaf kennels.

I had seen a photo on one of the puppy sites, so I was really surprised when I saw the puppies they were not the puppies in the photo. The photo showed four white nosed pups on a quilt in front of a real fire. The man Kev Knox (I dont believe that was his name) was very abrupt and said he had somebody calling in 5 minutes and hurried me along.

I asked to see the pups parents, he let 2 Shih Tzus out of a back kennel, the Shih Tzu puppies were in a cage with Dashound pups and there was a westie in the kennel next to them, with a pretty black and white shih tzu obviously not from the same litter as the other 4 Shih Tzu pups. I was interested in a bitch, he had two, one was very small the neither pup was anything like the photos on the internet.

I asked to see their pedigree, and was told there was nothing ready yet. It was not Kennel Club registration, but something with initial such PPBG I asked for the birth date and he was unsure about that. The pups were in a cold outhouse with sawdust on the floor. The pups were not the same colour as the so called Shih Tzu parents. I felt fleas on the pup I held, these pups were not in a loving and caring environment. I believe this to be a puppy farm.

On searching the internet I have found others who have bought pups from Knox and suffered by having to pay huge vet bills. I asked if he had ever had bother with the dogs eyes, as I have read this is a common problem with Shih Tzus, and he said never. This man pushed me to make a decision on the pup, I was only there a few minutes, maybe 5 in total. He was a horrible man with no patience, and a lot of heavy breathing when asked questions.

I left without a pup, but still feel for the poor animals left there in the cold cage without their mother. Maybe he didn't want me to buy from him as I lived so near, and would make an issue of any problems. I don't believe the pedigree would have been worth the paper it was written on.

It is a disgrace if it is all about making money out of poor creatures? I have since noticed on his Ivy Leaf Kennels website that he has a new selection of puppies of different breeds, is he shipping them in? I would like to inform the relevant authorities, but I am not sure who or how.

I suspect that this family are indeed puppy farmers. I have visited this house to purchase a Cavalier pup, The man I met was rude and impatient and brought the two tri pupps in from outside.

They ran straight under the table. He moved the table and I noticed one had a runny eye. Another breed of dog was walking around an empty livingroom, he sat in the corner of the room and rushed us to make a decision.

He didnt know exactly how old the pups were, and when I asked to see the pups mum he looked aghast that I asked. He is selling at least five different pup types through the pets4home websites and other sites. The pictures are not even the dogs who he has. His pups looked ill, barely moved and weepy eyes.

He asked no questions about me and said I could take the pup home with me there and then. I put a small deposit down (due to pressure from him to secure the pup. Two days before I was due to collect the pup I found out from a local vet that he is a well known puppy farmer.

The vet had to put to sleep a Westie he had sold and 'dropped it off' at the local train station. The Westie was unsocialised, agressive and riddled with health problems. No doubt Mr Knox (The vet he changes his details regularly)is indeed a puppy farmer and needs to be stopped. He is well known even in Darlington for this and now have different dogs on the site that he had last week!!!!! Pets4homes stop using him!

Very pleasant to start with but turned defensive when asked for his address.since found out a friend of ours purchased a pup from him told her he would meet her at the train station.

This pup has deformed limbs and of a very bad temprement and uncontrolable. Please think twice before dealing with this farmer

Bought a bichon in decmeber it was really ill so I rang him he said bring it back which I did, he was resistant to give me a refund but instead give me the other puppy. I was devastated but I thought id make the best out of a bad situation.

All seemed well until fifi had parvo and had to be put down. I told him what happened he was very off hand and didnt care at all.

So I've contacted all the relevant people and something will be done.

We bought a Westie pup from hin in June last year.

He would not let us go to pick/collect him as he was too busy so he said the "delivery" was a free service. He came in a van all full of cages + has 2 westies. One of them at the time just seemed very nervous so i picked the active bright looking one. Looking back now thought i believe the other must have had problems with its hips or something as have never seen a pup cower as much as that.

He was not bothered who i was if i ever had a dog before or anything, he just took my money and left sharpish after leaving some pedigree pup food. The pup stank and had urinne stains on his fur, didnt really notice this till he was gone , just thought it was puppy smell. Within an hour of him leaving the pup started having the runns and was passing loads of blood and mucous and it stank.

The vet wormed him + after what he passed it was wuite evident he hadnt been wormed just a couple of day ago as Knox had claimed. He had treatment for earmites and flea rash. The pup still didnt get better and was being sick , still passing this disgusting mucous several times a day , became very thin and dehydrated.

He collapsed and was shaking violently. We rushed him to the vet and thought we were going to lose him. Vet thought it was Parvo. I rang know and he said "nothing to do with me , your pup now , was fine when he left here"! I was devestated.

Thankfully it wasnt Parvo , but he was seriously ill with Colitis. Rang him back again with all the problems we were having and his reply this time was "with pets come vets bills"!

This man is a disgrace , jack also had not been innoculated propertly as claimed. It was not the full 1st jab he was given so had to start the whole innoculation process again.

After reading some of the blogs about this place im so worried he may become ill in later life as some people seem to have been mentioning.

Something needs to be done about this monster who claims to be a respected breeder.

Deepest sympathies to those who have lost their pups. I dont know what i would do without jack.

The other day I was looking for golden retrievers pups for sale and came across a site, golden retriever puppies looking for a home, they were asking 150 per pup saying they were kc home reared etc...

So I sent a email just to see what rubbish they would tell me, got one back, the reply was that they would send the pup to my home address by special pets delivery which I would have to pay up front.

Hope this information will help his name is Dave Knox his email address is d.knox79@yahoo.com
